There is no muscle group that you can’t work on this machine, both in terms of strength training and the range of motion training.
Designed by Ken Endelman, the Allegro Reformer is characterized by its ease of use, adjustability, safety and solid construction. The machine’s pulley variable resistance angles even allow you to tweak Pilates exercises for sport-specific training.
Allegro Reformer Design
The Allegro Reformer consists of a metal frame with an anodized aluminum finish that is sleek and durable. It uses an 8 built-in wheel suspension system that provides for a smooth, quiet ride. The wheels also make the reformer machine easy to move for vertical or stacked storage.
An extra-wide, padded footbar adjusts to four vertical positions and four horizontal positions to accommodate people of all heights. This is one of the safest, most versatile footbars available.
This Pilates machine is also built with a 3-position headrest that provides comfort and support for the neck, swivel pulleys for variable angles of resistance, a built-in standing platform with non-skid finish, padded shoulder rests that adjust to two widths, and ropes that adjust quickly and easily with nautical cam cleats.
Allegro Reformer Features
The Pilates Allegro Reformer has the longest lasting springs available on the market. Its five-spring resistance system allows up to 46 resistances. And, their accuracy ensures that you can consistently repeat movements.
You can set up the Allegro Reformer in 60 seconds. Just raise the foot-bar, insert the risers and shoulder rests, and pull the ropes through the pulleys. when you’re done, remove the risers and shoulder rests, and store them in the specially designed slots in the frame. You can then fold up the machine for fast and flat storage.
Conversion of the machine to a 14″ studio-height Allegro is also easily accomplished with a Retrofit Kit. Sold separately, the kit includes legs and a shoulder post.
The standard Pilates machine includes a free copy of the acclaimed Allegro Level 1 workout video. In the 30-minute Introductory Workout, you’ll learn basic movement principles of Reformer exercises. Then, you’ll progress to Level 1, where you’ll integrate core control, correct breathing, and proper alignment with smooth, continuous movements for all the major muscle groups.

I have taken private ($75 an hour session) and group reformer classes ($30 an hour session x5 in a class) locally, but needed to use more than once a week which is hard to do with the pricey costs. We bought the risers too, since I like being a little off the ground when exercising.”
